A Brief History of Social Distortion.
In the late 1970s the first raw, sloppy, speeding guitar chords began to blare from the garages and backrooms of a Southern California suburb called Orange County. They echoed a sound forged in the preceding years in the seminal punk undergrounds of New York City and London.
In 1979, 17-year old Mike Ness formed Social Distortion with drummer Casey Royer and brothers Rikk and Frank Agnew. The band’s world centered around Mike’s one-bedroom pad, dubbed “the black hole” (later immortalized by the The Adolescents with the song “Kids Of The Black Hole”), in a nondescript Fullerton, CA apartment complex.
After meeting Dennis Danell, whose brother worked in West Hollywood at The Starwood, (a club instrumental in the careers of Black Flag, The Germs, The Go-Gos and many more) Ness insisted Danell, who at the time didn’t play an instrument, join the band on bass. Royer and the Agnew’s soon split from the band and eventually formed The Adolescents.
Local Los Angeles KROQ-FM deejay Rodney Bingenheimer embraced Orange County music, playing many bands from the scene on his Sunday night radio show. In 1981, Social Distortion released their first single, “Mainliner/Playpen,” on the Posh Boy label. Around the same time, Mike Ness developed a reputation as a brawler resulting in a chunk of his left ear being bitten off during a confrontation at the Cuckoo’s Nest bar.
In 1982 Social Distortion embarked on their first cross-continental tour in a run down old school bus. Joined by LA’s Youth Brigade and DC’s Minor Threat, the tour became the subject of the now legendary documentary “Another State of Mind.” Much madness ensued, due in no small part to Ness’s growing heroin habit.
By late 1983, Social Distortion’s line up consisted of Mike Ness, Danell (now on rhythm guitar), bassist Brent Liles, and drummer Derek O’Brien. Their debut album Mommy’s Little Monster was released on the 13th Floor label and gained the band a national name in punk circles. By this point Ness’s heroin use had become a full-fledged addiction and resulted in Brent Liles and Derek O’Brien bailing out of the band in the middle of a New Year’s Eve 1983 show.
After their departure Ness and Danell recruited John Maurer, another old school buddy from Fullerton to play bass and Christopher Reece, of the San Francisco band The Lewd, to play drums. This lineup weathered Social Distortion’s toughest years, as Ness struggled with addiction and the resulting series of jailings and detoxes. Somehow Ness is continued writing and managed to hold the band together. In 1985 they to began work on a new album. It took a while to complete, but in 1988, Social Distortion emerged with Prison Bound, an album whose moving title track about a wasted life is one of the greatest songs ever to come out of Orange County. From this point Ness turned Social Distortion’s albums into an ongoing dialogue about impulsiveness, its consequences and the hard struggle to overcome.
In addition to the early punk of The Ramones and The Clash, the band’s sound was culled equally from Ness’ love of roots music, specifically early country music greats like Hank Williams and the early blues recordings of the South such as Muddy Waters, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Howlin’ Wolf. As Ness would later declare to Social Distortion audiences, “Without good black music, there would be no good white music.”
The self-titled album Social Distortion followed in 1990. It marked SD’s first release on a major label. The success of singles “Story Of My Life” and “Ball And Chain,” along with their remarkable cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring Of Fire,” make the album Social Distortion’s first Gold record. The band is asked to join Neil Young on tour, beginning the process of bending punk expectation.
In 1992 they released another new album, Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell. Lead by the blistering single “Bad Luck,” this album also goes Gold. Following the success of “Bad Luck” at radio, Social Distortion embarked on a co-headline tour with The Ramones.
The band took an extended hiatus following the release of Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell, and did not return to the studio until the fall of 1995. Earlier that year, Time Bomb Recordings re-issued Mommy’s Little Monster, Prison Bound, and released the singles compilation Mainliner (Wreckage From The Past).
In 1996 Social D returned with a new album, White Light White Heat White Trash. The lineup features a new drummer, Chuck Biscuits of Black Flag and D.O.A. fame. The album is a success atop radio favorites “I Was Wrong” and “When The Angels Sing.” The band sign up as one of the main draws of the 1997 Warped Tour and then record and release the live album Live At The Roxy in 1998.
Cheating At Solitaire, Ness’s first solo recording was released by Mike Ness in 1999. The album is an homage to the classic country, blues, rockabilly, and folk that shaped him as a songwriter. Later that same year Ness released Under The Influences, a collection of cover tunes further showcasing his love of American roots music with songs written by legends Hank Williams, Marty Robbins, and Carl Perkins among others.
On February 29, 2000, then 38-year old guitarist Dennis Danell died suddenly of a brain aneurysm. At the time Mike said “I am saddened beyond any possible form of expression. Dennis and I have been friends since boyhood, starting Social Distortion while we where in high school.”
No stranger to adversity, Ness decided to continue with the band and in
the Fall of 2000, Jonny “2 Bags” Wickersham (guitar) and Charlie Quintana (drums) joined Social Distortion. However it’s not until 2003 that this version of Social Distortion head into the studio to record a new album – the first full-length studio record in 7 years for the band that Ness formed as a 17-year old, and the first record without Dennis Danell.
The result is Sex Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll. Upon the album’s completion SD’s longtime bassist John Maurer decided to leave the band. He is replaced by Brent Harding, a member of Ness’s solo touring band. The new album is well received nationwide, bolstered by the success of the single “Reach For The Sky.”
Also released in 2004, a live DVD, Live in The Orange County, as well as the re-release of Another State of Mind, on DVD. In 2005, the band sells out a record six nights at The Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.
Social Distortion released Greatest Hits on June 26, 2007, their first-ever career spanning collection. The single “Far Behind” was recorded specifically for this compilation. In November 2007 the band embarked on another wildly successful West Coast concert tour, playing 44 sellouts, with more than 50,000 tickets sold. Throughout 2008, Social Distortion took a hiatus and Ness got his solo band together for national touring.
After ten amazing years behind the drum kit for Social Distortion, Charlie “Chalo” Quintana announced in April 2009 that he’s moving on to explore other musical opportunities. Charlie had this to say about his departure, “Playing with Social D for ten years was a good time in my life. I was lucky to play on two Social D records and the second solo album, and I am proud to have been part of the band. We hit some spectacular heights which I will never forget – adios amigos!”
Filling Charlie’s big shoes is none other than Atom Willard. You’ve probably seen Atom wailing on the skins with Rocket From The Crypt, The Offspring, or his most recent band Angels & Airwaves. We couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome such a great talent and individual into the band.
Social Distortion is currently writing with plans to record a new Social Distortion album, due for release sometime in 2010.

Alternative rock
Green Day is an American rock trio formed in 1987.[1] The band has consisted of Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals, guitar), Mike Dirnt (bass guitar, vocals), and Tré Cool (drums, percussion) for the majority of its existence.
Green Day was originally part of the punk rock scene at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, California. Its early releases for independent record label Lookout! Records earned them a grassroots fanbase, some of whom felt alienated when the band signed to a major label.[2] Nevertheless, its major label debut Dookie (1994) became a breakout success and eventually sold over 10 million copies in the U.S. and 15 million worldwide.[3] As a result, Green Day was widely credited, alongside fellow California punk bands The Offspring and Rancid, with reviving mainstream interest in and popularizing punk rock in the United States.[4][5] Green Day's three follow-up albums, Insomniac, Nimrod and Warning did not achieve the massive success of Dookie, but they were still successful, reaching double platinum, double platinum, and gold status respectively.[6] Green Day's 2004 rock opera American Idiot reignited the band's popularity with a younger generation, selling five million copies in the U.S.[7] The band's eighth studio album, 21st Century Breakdown, was released on May 15, 2009.
Green Day has sold over 22 million records in the United States.[8] They have won three Grammy Awards; Best Alternative Album for Dookie, Best Rock Album for American Idiot, and Record of the Year for "Boulevard of Broken Dreams".

Band History
Here's a great idea, let's get the guy in the band who smokes the most pot to write a band history. That's me. The guy who couldn't remember what was said five minutes ago if his life depended on it. You try and write down the last 16 years of your life and make it seem relevant…

First Practice 1983
Here's what I do remember. I was sitting with a kid named Dillon in our usual spot with the other punkers during lunchtime at Fairfax high school. He was a drummer, and we were dissatisfied with the bands we were in. My band consisted of me and my one and only Punk Rock friend both playing guitar and singing and that was it. Neither one of us had finished any songs. Not quite a recipe for success.
So I sez to my friend, let's start a band. A real band, a band that does stuff. A band that writes songs, practices, puts out records, and goes on tour. We talked about who else we wanted in this band. We knew lots of good people from going to punk gigs around LA. He knew a Bass player named Mike who used to be in a band called False Alarm. We both knew a guy named Steve from Orange County who we agreed would make a great front man. We made some calls and arranged to meet and have a first practice.
That's when I first met Mike. Mike was a huge Misfits fan. He looked like a Misfits fan. His hair was long in front and it was all hairsprayed together to a point down the middle of his face in what was called a "Devilock". Mike had some songs for us to play. I had written a song called "Take Part". It sounded an awful lot like Minor Threat's version of the Monkees' Stepping Stone. Steve didn't go to that first practice, he couldn't get a ride up from Orange county. After that first practice Dillon quit and Mike called up Erik. Mike and Erik had met a couple of years earlier while skateboarding around Hollywood. Erik liked Mike's Black Flag skateboard. It was Punk. Mike had asked Erik to join False Alarm back then, but Erik's mom wouldn't let him do it 'cuz he had no driver's license yet. Later on, when we asked him to play drums with us he was in a band called Caustic Cause. Erik joined us but his other band would have to have priority. We were supposed to be a 4-piece but practiced as a 3-piece, Steve hadn't made it to one practice yet.

Johny Cash
Country / Rock / Country

No other artist has touched the world of music quite like Johnny Cash. He is the only person to be inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame, The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame AND The Songwriter's Hall Of Fame. His very name is synonymous with the fight for the rights of the poor and downtrodden and the image of "The Man In Black" is as deeply American as the stars and stripes themselves. Johnny Cash is America.

TIGER ARMY
Psychobilly / Punk / Alternative
History
The band played their first show at the famous
924 Gilman Street venue in
Berkeley, California, with
AFI on March 29, 1996. After making a name for themselves playing shows throughout the
California area alongside
AFI and
English psychobilly pioneers
The Meteors, they were signed to Chapter Eleven Records.
Tiger Army first entered the studio in the summer of 1996 to record a self-titled
vinyl record EP, now referred to as the
Temptation EP. This EP caught the attention of
Tim Armstrong, owner of
Hellcat Records, who signed the band. Tiger Army recorded their first full-length, the self-titled
Tiger Army, in January 1999. It was released that October. Stand-up bassist
Joel Day left Tiger Army before the band was signed, so the
Quakes stand-up bassist
Rob Peltier was hired to play on the album.
During the ensuing California mini-tour promoting the album,
Nick 13 asked
Geoff Kresge, one of his former bandmates from
Influence 13, to join Tiger Army. Kresge accepted, and joined as a permanent member a few months later.
[3] The band was asked to play on the
Danzig and
Samhain tour in 2000, where they befriended Samhain drummer
London May. He joined the band when
Adam Carson left.
The band recorded a second album,
Tiger Army II: Power of Moonlite in 2001. London May left shortly after the recording. He was replaced by Fred Hell, who was a former resident of Chico, CA and an employee of
Synthesis, the town's local independent magazine. During Hell's tenure, the band enjoyed a loyal following of
Chico State students.
On March 10, 2003, Fred Hell was shot four times, including once in the head, by armed robbers who broke into his friend's apartment in
Chino, California. A bullet became lodged in his brain, making it necessary for him to go through physical therapy before he could play drums again. At the time, the band was in the process of recording the album
Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise. At first, the record was repeatedly delayed to make time for him to recover enough to perform, but his injuries proved serious enough for the band to hire a studio drummer,
Mike Fasano, drum tech for both
Rancid and Tiger Army, to play on the album. Hell attempted to play on the tour supporting the album's release, but he was again forced to stay and recover while Fasano joined the band on the road. In July 2004, Hell decided to depart from the band in light of his injuries.
Only months later, in September 2004, Geoff Kresge departed the band to focus his efforts on his new record label, Dead Body Records and began recruiting members for a new band called
Viva Hate. He would join his wife
Kamilla Vanilla with
Horrorpops as a guitarist a month later. Nick 13 quickly announced a new line-up for Tiger Army, featuring drummer "Wasted" James Meza (formerly of The Rezurex and numerous other small
Los Angeles psychobilly bands, and a former touring drummer for the
Nekromantix) and stand-up bassist Jeff Roffredo (formerly of Cosmic Voodoo, Calavera and The Rezurex), who were full-time members of Tiger Army, until Jeff Roffredo, departed from the band in early 2008, leaving Geoff Kresge to once again take the position.
Tiger Army's fourth album, titled
Music from Regions Beyond, was released on June 5, 2007
[4] and was produced by
Jerry Finn.
[5]
In 2008, Tiger Army played a number of shows in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Japan and Europe.

History +
Formation, debut album and This Darkened Heart (1998-2005)
Phil Labonte had been an original founding member as the singer of
Shadows Fall and appeared on the cult classic album
Somber Eyes to the Sky.
[2] After being asked to leave, Phil looked to start a new band and thus formed All That Remains.
[2] The band released their debut album,
Behind Silence and Solitude on March 26, 2002 through
Prosthetic Records.
[3] The style of the album differs from their current
metalcore musical style,
[4] and more prominently contains elements of
melodic death metal. It was also the band's only release featuring the original members Chris Bartlett and Dan Egan.
Their second album,
This Darkened Heart was released on March 23, 2004 through Prosthetic Records. Produced by
Killswitch Engage guitarist
Adam Dutkiewicz, the album featured better production compared to its predecessor. The three
singles that were released from the album are "This Darkened Heart", "Tattered on My Sleeve" and "The Deepest Gray".
The Fall of Ideals (2006-2008)
Their third album
The Fall of Ideals was released on July 11, 2006 through Prosthetic Records. Once again, the album was produced by Adam Dutkiewicz. The album is also considered to be the band's breakthrough release, as it entered the
Billboard 200 charts at number 75, selling almost 13,000 copies in its first week.
[5] "This Calling" was released as the album's first single. Two
music videos were created, with one incorporating footage from
Saw III (as it was the lead song from
the film's soundtrack). A music video was made for the album's second single "The Air That I Breathe". The band was also a part of
Ozzfest 2006. The song "Six" is featured in
Guitar Hero II. On June 20, 2007, it was announced that
The Fall of Ideals had surpassed 100,000 sales in the United States.

CALIBAN
METAL
Both originally hailing from the Ruhr Area, the largest agglomeration in Germany, modern metal force CALIBAN and Century Media Records are finally worldwide partners in crime after being neighbours for years and already co-operating for CALIBAN's last album "The Awakening" for North America. After Heaven Shall Burn and Maroon Century Media Records is delighted to welcome CALIBAN and hence being a home for the trinity of German modern metal.
CALIBAN's new album "Say Hello To Tragedy" marks a fantastic start for this new global partnership and impressively unites an aggressive, ferocious metal punch with emotive melodies and choruses. Through the course of the record you can discover thrashing viciousness, blasting speed and crushing breaks as well as harmonic clean vocals resulting in an opus rich in contrast and diversity. Songs like the murderous opener "24 Years", "Caliban's Revenge" or "No One Is Safe" prove that CALIBAN have developed into an unrivalled modern metal beast captivating the listener with raging heaviness and catchy melodies to equal terms. The album's concept deals with the question which tragedies happen nowadays or could have been prevented, if people would just open their eyes and at least care a bit about their neighbours, relatives and the world in general. Some songs are entirely fictional whereas other ones refer to real life dramas like the Fritzl case.
"Say Hello To Tragedy" was produced by Benny Richter, co-produced by guitarist Marc Goertz and mixed by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam D - the same team directing the previous "The Awakening" that hit the German Media Control Charts on #36.
Formed in 1997, CALIBAN is one of the few German bands who managed to build up an international status in recent years. In North America they toured with labelmates God Forbid, The Red Chord, I Killed The Prom Queen and many more and also stopped at North American Festivals such as Hellfest (Syracuse) and New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. They toured Japan with Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall, played the Beast Feast as well as visited Indonesia, Malaysia and last, but not least Australia as part of the Gigantour with Megadeth, Soulfly and Arch Enemy. Apart from several headline runs they were part of numerous European tours with bands such as In Flames and Devil Driver, Machine Head or Kreator. Also, it doesn't come as a surprise that you could watch CALIBAN on countless European festivals such as With Full Force Festival (D), Graspop Metal Meeting (B), Summerbreeze (D), Rock am Ring/Rock im Park (D), Wacken Open Air (D) as well as the prestigious Nova Rock (A) and Download Festival (UK). Recently they supported Machine Head and their acquaintances Killswitch Engage on selected shows.
To present their brand-new album "Say Hello To Tragedy" live, CALIBAN will play at several festivals this summer and are confirmed to headline the Beastfest European tour 2009 with labelmates Suicide Silence and Maroon as well as Emmure and After The Burial in October/November 2009.
